Did you know that just 1 inch of water can cause more than $25,000 in damage?  According to www.floodsmart.gov, no home is entirely safe from flooding.  A flood insurance policy could be the difference between rebuilding and financial devastation.

I already have homeowners insurance.

Most homeowners insurance policies do not cover flooding.  You need to purchase a separate flood insurance policy to cover the cost of repairs caused by a flood.

My neighborhood has never flooded.

There are many things that can cause flooding.  Poor drainage systems, flash flooding, heavy rains, melting snow, neighborhood construction, and broken water mains are just a few causes of flooding.

I am renting my property.

While your landlord may have flood insurance for the house itself, their policy will not cover your contents.  You need your own flood insurance policy to cover your belongings.

I don’t live in a high-risk flood area.

Over 40% of flood insurance claims are filed by individuals that live outside of a high risk flood area.  (Think about what happened during Hurricane Katrina.)
